Pests We Treat
Comprehensive pest management for all common Tasmanian pests. Click any pest below to learn more about identification and our treatment approach.
Ants
Ants are social insects that live in colonies mostly outside in soil, trees, wood, or around rocks. They can find their way into homes in large numbers, trailing across surfaces in search of food. In Tasmania, some larger ants can cause anaphylactic shock from their bites.
Our Management Approach
We specialise in effective ant treatments. Our technicians will discuss your situation and treat infested spaces while advising on hygiene measures, harbourage areas, exclusion, and food availability.
Bed Bugs
Bed bugs feed only on blood and can survive up to a year without a meal under cool conditions. They are small, nocturnal, wingless insects found in mattress seams, bed bases, furniture, behind headboards, and picture frames. They grow up to 4-5mm when fully grown.
Our Management Approach
Early detection is critical. Contact us immediately so we can create a customised treatment plan. Bed bugs multiply quickly, so prompt action helps prevent larger infestations.
Birds
Birds can transmit diseases like Salmonella and provide a haven for fleas, bird mites, and cockroaches. Their droppings can foul buildings and footpaths, presenting safety hazards. They can also cause damage to machinery with nesting materials.
Our Management Approach
We specialise in effective treatment for most feral birds. Our technicians will discuss your situation including preventative measures. Most birds are protected -- if unsure, contact us for free advice.
Cockroaches
Homes and buildings are ideal for cockroaches as they provide food, water, warmth, and shelter. German cockroaches breed quickly, and if seen during the day, you may have an enormous population. They spread disease from drains and unsanitary sources.
Our Management Approach
We provide effective cockroach treatments including discussion of hygiene measures, harbourage areas, exclusion, and food availability to reduce conditions they thrive in.
Fleas
Often associated with pet households, fleas can be unknowingly carried to other homes, workplaces, and hotels. Small dark-coloured jumping insects that cause considerable discomfort from biting and itching. Pets are more susceptible to flea-borne diseases.
Our Management Approach
We provide fast, effective flea treatment. We discuss measures to help control fleas and manage pets to stop problems reoccurring, plus helpful printed facts on fleas.
Spiders
Spiders usually only bite when they feel threatened. However, large numbers and webs can cause uneasiness. If you see baby spiders, they may have just begun breeding -- the time to call a professional. Untrained removal is rarely effective and potentially unsafe.
Our Management Approach
Keep food sealed, maintain a clean environment, and remove clutter (especially important for white tail spiders). For severe problems, leave it to our professionals who ensure spiders are effectively controlled.
Wasps & Bees
European wasps (12-15mm) are bright yellow with black markings. Nests are usually concealed underground, in roof spaces, or wall cavities. They aggressively defend nests and can sting multiple times, potentially causing anaphylactic reactions.
Our Management Approach
Given the severity of wasp or bee infestations, always leave this to experts. We have specific treatment programs designed for complete extermination. Never approach an active nest.
Rats & Mice
Buildings provide ideal conditions for rodents. In Tasmania, rats and mice move inside more during cooler months. The Norway rat, Roof Rat, and House Mouse all cause damage to buildings, wiring, food, and personal items, and spread disease.
Our Management Approach
We identify your rodent type and implement the best control measures including snap traps, multi-catch traps, bait, and secure rodent bait stations.
Possums
While native and protected, possums in your roof can chew through electrical wire and timber, causing great expense. Their droppings present health risks and unbearable smells. We are licensed with NRE Tas for possum removal.
Our Management Approach
We specialise in humane possum removal. After removal, we seal entry points and crevices to prevent recurrence. We discuss prevention strategies to keep possums away long-term.
Scorpions & Other Insects
We also treat silverfish, scorpions, wood lice, millipedes, carpet beetles, clothes moths, food and pantry pests, and feral cats. Whatever pest problem you have, we can provide an appropriate treatment.
